And now for something completely different

Per usual, the British press is doing a better job of covering American news than we are. The latest: five migrant workers have died of heatstroke in California this season.
Fortunately, the Governator is taking measures. Employers must now give water breaks every hour and a recovery period for heatstroke. There will be 64 inspectors who will make sure that employers are following the rules.

This is a good start, but more measures need to be taken. Minimum requirements for shade, water, and rest are being pushed through California's senate.

In assembly, every Republican voted against the measures.

Apparently repubs don't think migrant workers need shade, rest or water...perhaps they think migrant workers are superheroes!

don't migrant workers know when they need to drink water, or get in the shade? These workers are adults, after all.

why do liberals think every problem needs government intervention?

In regards to Mary,

In addition to thinking that they are superheroes, they also think that migrant workers don't need much money.

In regards to Anon,

The problem isn't that migrant workers are too dumb to take breaks. They're hard-working, yes, but not suicidal. The problem is that they aren't allowed to take breaks.

You're right on one thing: employers shouldn't need the government to tell them that people working in the hot sun need an occasional water break.

Best wishes with your blog. I've enjoyed reading it and will definitely be coming back for more.

I have a ficus bonsai Website. It covers the best information available on ficus bonsai and similar topics.

Regarding the above post,

While I am pretty sure that this is an advertising robot, I am leaving it because a childish part of me thinks it would be funny if the conservative Anon and the bonsai-loving Anon were the same person.
