I don't think that's accurate
I know that I rag on the Bush Administration for being incompetent. But you know, I'm actually kind of glad that they're incompetent. Because otherwise, they might be able to fool me for more than five goddamn seconds.
As Blogenfreude points out, there is a substantial difference between what Scott McClellan says in the video (quicktime) of the press conference, and what the White House has him saying in the transcript of that same press conference.
Scott McClellan says--and if I'm lyin' I'm dyin'--"that's accurate." He says it quickly, but it is not ambiguous at all. It's right there, absolutely clear.
The White House transcripts quote him as saying "I don't think that's accurate."
This can't be happening.

Ain't that great? Re-writing History the old-fashioned way. Just change the words. Nobody's gonna know the difference. The Winner write the history books. And stick to your boldfaced lie. The People love sticktoittiveness. It show you're not a flipflopper or a blamegamer. Be consistent in your lies. Or, if one doesn't work, tell them you said something else. Videotape proves nothing.
I didn't know that Winston Smith was the White House webmaster...
Unbelievable if it wasn't the Bush administration...
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing.
He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."
"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"
His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.
Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"
injinuity - can't tell you how long I laughed at this joke..I hadn't heard it before...it's a doozy.
marie I think it is so because Bush is 'Human' and most people can identify with him...
