Gambling Mood

It's official. WMDs do not and indeed, have never have existed in Iraq. The Bush administration: incompetent or criminal? I'm thinking incompetent but that's just because I'm an optimist.
(Meanwhile, the CIA is now trying to convince us that the insurgents have them. For heavens sakes. Dude, haven't you ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf WMD?)

If you're going to wage an illegal war, you might as well do it right. I found this lovely gem in Alternate Universe Blog: our soldiers haven't got enough supplies to keep from getting killed. We've all heard of the lack of Humvee armor, but 'da hell? The unit described in this article had to make *cutouts of soldiers and dress them in camo* so that the insurgency would think they were fighting more soldiers. They lacked proper maps, even.
UPDATE::
Oh my, Alternate Universe Blog points out something
even scarier. Who supports the troops? Not the Republicans: Of the 39
votes against funding for armor, only one was a democrat
.

Human Rights watch says that Abu Ghraib is not an isolated incident. It's happening in Mosul, it's happening in Guantanamo, it's happening in many places.
Man, winning all that money on Pope Betting last Tuesday has put me into a gambling mood! How much do you want to bet that, save for a few token underlings, nobody is going to be punished for this?

I'm betting with you on the Abu Ghraib and the like "incidents" -- no senior officer will feel even a slight tap on the wrist.

We are supposed to believe that young people are thinking these things up by themselves against direct orders from their superiors.

How stupid do they think we are?

I'm actually kind of offended that nobody even tried to cover this up. They don't even respect us enough to lie to us properly.
