This is pretty counter-productive
If the new licensing rider passes through Congress, it could take up to four different forms of ID to renew a driving license. Many Congressmen argue that
Nearly all of the illegal aliens I know use fake driving licenses. (Si, I know it's anecdotal but exactly how would you do a proper study on this sort of thing anyway?) I am in this country legally so I have no need, but word on the street is that faking is not too difficult and not too terribly expensive.
Okay, we need more security in this post-9/11 world, yadda yadda yadda...I would support a measure that redesigned driving licenses so that they would be harder to fake. Not only would this actually work, but I bet it wouldn't cost $500 million dollars.
(UPDATE: speaking of IDs, humans won't be the only ones affected. The USDA might start tagging all livestock by 2009. Yeah, that'll happen.)

Agree very much with you.
This isn't going to stop fake IDs. Here in MacArthur Park, Los Angeles one can buy social security cards, birth certificates, drivers licenses, you name it...Just another excuse for Leviathan government.
Here in NJ, you already need multiple forms of ID. There's a point system. A U.S. passport alone doesn't suffice. If you don't have a gun permit, and you don't have a pilot's license, and you've never been married so you don't have a marriage license, and you don't already have a photo driver's license, and you don't know where your high school diploma is (a college or grad school diploma won't suffice), there's no way you can accumulate enough points to qualify for a driver's license in NJ.
