Bush finally admits that things aren't 100% honky-dory in Iraq
After many weeks of news reports detailing our failures in Iraq, Bush caves and says it's "tough going" in Iraq. And this is about all that he's going to admit to. (Guantanamo? Things are ay-ok in Guantanamo. Don't believe those crazy news stories.) We've got 65% of Americans saying that Bush is doing a bad job of handling Iraq. We've got Republicans coming out against the war. We've got everybody's favorite John McCain comparing Iraq to Viet Nam, the only war America has ever lost.
Bush's new justification for the war: we must finish up in Iraq so that the 1,800 troops won't have died in vain. Interesting. This is known as sunk cost. This is the same reason we stayed in Viet Nam for ages and ages.
